Mexican Riveria on the Disney Wonder
This was our 8th Disney cruise, first from the West Coast.......it was awesome! Whale watching, deep sea fishing, horseback riding down the beach along the Ocean ........ All just amazing. Also got a room upgrade at the terminal for pennies on the dollar and got the biggest room and verandah on the ship (other than the suites).

Always nice to be able to upgrade in the terminal.
We booked cheapest inside cabin cat. 11 and upgraded to I believe cat 4 or 5 (rm 6654 if you can look it up) for $300
When you check in (which you have to do first) you tell them you are interested in an upgrade. If the boat is not full hey will escort you down to customer service and they will let you know what's available and for how much. The only time I got a free upgrade was on a transatlantic cruise and they just upgraded U's before we even got there.

We're scheduled for this same cruise in March. It's the first cruise for me and my family, although other members of our group have cruised on many occasions. Any tips or things you wish you would have known before your first cruise (or first Disney cruise)? Thanks, everyone!
Things to know, much like any Disney trip. You CANNOT do it all. Remember you are on vacation and try to pick some priorities or what fits into the schedule. Best way I have found to do this is to highlight anything that interests me in the Navigator you get the night before. My husband gets a different color highlighter, anything that crosses we try to prioritize towards the top. But carry that Navigator with you throughout the day. And remember, if you are having fun, that's all that matters!
Excursions can really bump up your costs as can adult beverages. We try to pick one big excursion on a cruise to do, then explore the other port(s) on our own. Even if we just get off the ship, have some local cuisine, try to talk the native language and buy a souvenir, we are good. And on Disney, this is the only cruise line that allows it, you CAN bring on some adult beverages to enjoy in your stateroom (but you are supposed to CARRY them on). Figure out ahead of time what souvenirs you or the kids are going to be allowed to buy. It can be something low cost or maybe one nice big item. (remember postcards have some great pictures, magnets, tshirts etc). And DCL will have a wide selection to tempt you as well.

I agree, don't try to do it all......I also agree with advice about excursions and adult beverages.....I always bring my own bottle of wine to enjoy at some point (but not at dinner as they will charge you if you bring it to dinner). I have learned to make a sign for our door to make it easy to "spot" especially for the kids. Doors are magnetic.....think of it as a refrigerator door :0). Don't over pack.....there i's easy to use laundry on the ship and unless you really like to get dressed up you don't have to go "black tie"attire on formal nights. That night i's nothing more than a photo opportunity. Try for that upgrade! Wish I had known how to do it sooner.....if I think of anything else I will post again.....have fun!
Can you do this if you are checking in at the airport? Or does it have to be done at the Port?
